Confirmation: Confirmation is the final sacrament of initiation where we re-new are baptism and through the minister, at the will of Jesus Christ, are granted the gift of the Holy Spirit. Form: The form of confirmation is the words, "be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit" which must be said aloud by the minister to the receiver of Confirmation. Matter: The matter used during the sacrament is holy chrism as well as the laying of the ministers hands on the receiver of the sacrament. Minister: The ordinary minister of the sacrament of Confirmation is a bishop, however in an extraordinary case (like if the bishop is unable to make it to the parish), a priest with permission from the bishop is able to perform the sacrament as well as on the Easter Vigil the pastor can perform the sacrament on those entering the church that night. Receiver: Those who have be baptized but not confirmed and still need the completion of their baptismal graces can be confirmed as well as those who have been baptized in another faith and are entering the Catholic Faith. Frequency: You can only receive the sacrament of Confirmation ONCE for, like baptism, it is permanent. Effect: Their are many effects in which are received during the sacrament of Confirmation. These effects are the sign of consecration, an indelible spiritual mark on the individual's soul, the completion of the person's baptismal rights, the full out-pouring of the Holy Spirit and lastly the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit. These seven gifts are wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety and Fear of the Lord. My Confirmation: For my Confirmation, my sponsor was my uncle, Christopher Castellano. Chris is a Kellenberg alumni and has always been there for me when I need him. I know that I can trust him with anything and that he will always be there to lend a hand. This is the key reason i choose him to be my sponsor, for he is a role model of Christ. Not to mention he would always tell me the importance of showing are thanks to God. My confirmation name, coincidentally, is Christopher. I choose this name based off of the Saint Christopher who was born in Canaan. Although he is not present on the official canon of saints, he is still considered a saint by many. He was martyred by a roman emperor by the name of Decius. Christopher is the patron saint of traveling and travelers due to a famous story in which he helped a child, unknown to him, across a river. The child later revealed himself to be Jesus Christ.
