Scripture Accounts: The sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick was first done via the Apostles, as they would perform healing miracles in Jesus' name. For example in Acts 3: 7-11, Peter heals a man, lame from birth, who he finds while by the temple. This is not the only miracle Peter would perform however. Another miracle he preforms occurs in Acts 9: 39-42 where Peter will raise a man by the name of Dorcus while in Joppa. A third example of a healing miracle is in Acts 9: 17-18 in which Ananias healed Saul's blindness which was initially caused by Saul receiving an appearance from Jesus. Overall the Anointing of the Sick relates to and is a sign of the Mercy of God. This is because the sacrament is a way of showing mercy to the person who is suffering by blessing them. This is what connects the sacrament to God's mercy.
